Creative tools

The tablet provides access to various Reflectis creative tools, enabling users to interact with and customize their environment. Access to these tools depends on the user's role within the platform.

Available tools include:

  • Pencil (VR only): Allows drawing in 2D on a whiteboard or in 3D directly in the environment.
  • Laser Pointer (VR only): A targeting tool for interacting with objects in the environment.
  • Whiteboard: Can be spawned in the environment for writing and drawing with the pencil.
  • Video Chat & Screen Share: Enables real-time communication and content sharing within the Reflectis platform

Pencil​

Note

Currently the pencil is only available in VR.

When the pencil tool is activated a pencil appears in the user's main hand, while a palette spawns in the opposite hand (reversed if the main hand setting is changed).

The palette includes:

  • Predefined colors for drawing.
  • A button to toggle the eraser.
  • A button to adjust the thickness of the pencil.

Functionality​

The pencil can be used for 3D drawing directly in the environment or 2D drawing on a whiteboard. To start drawing, press the trigger button on the controller holding the pencil.

Removing the Pencil​

To remove the pencil, return to the tablet menu and click the tool button again.

Laser pointer​

Note

The laser pointer is currently only available in VR.

When the laser pointer is activated, a pointer spawns in the user's main hand and is immediately active. Pointing at an object displays a red dot at the target location.

Removing the Pointer​

To remove the laser pointer, return to the tablet menu and click the tool button again.

Whiteboard​

Note

The whiteboard can currently only be used in VR. In WebGL, it can be spawned but not interacted with directly.

The whiteboard is a versatile tool that can be spawned into the environment for writing or drawing using the pencil.

Key Features​

  1. Spawning the Whiteboard

    When spawned, the whiteboard appears directly in front of the user.

  2. Interaction

  • VR: The whiteboard can be grabbed using the grab button on the controller by interacting with the white side handles.
  • WebGL: Use the left mouse button to click and drag the white side handles

  1. Adjusting the Whiteboard

    Multiple whiteboards can be spawned simultaneously in the environment.

  2. Removing a Whiteboard

    To delete a whiteboard, interact with the X button located in the upper-right corner of the board.

Video Chat & Screen Share​

The Video Chat and Screen Share features enable real-time communication and content sharing within the Reflectis platform. These tools are accessible through the Tools section of the tablet, depending on user permissions and platform capabilities.

Feature Overview​

  • WebGL Clients: can stream their webcam and share their screen, provided they have the required permissions to access the Tools section on the tablet.
  • VR Clients: act as spectators, able to view the video streams and shares initiated by the WebGL clients but cannot initiate streaming themselves.

Access and Permissions​

These features are available to users with the necessary permissions to access the Tools section on the tablet. Video Chat and Screen Share are subject to additional streaming service costs and are available only by prior agreement.
